in reverse chronological order
September 2024,
I began a full-time, year-long research and outreach fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences.
May 2024,
I completed my BA in mathematics at Bard College, where my thesis in discrete geometry was supervised by Charles Doran.
January 2024,
I visited Érika Roldán's research group in Stochastic Topology and its applications at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences for a month.
Summer 2023,
I studied quantum computation at the Institute for Advanced Study's PCMI Undergraduate Summer School and did a small research project in hyperbolic geometry.
Spring 2023,
I taught for the NY Math Circle at Columbia University, and taught coding and stop-motion animation classes for Robofun at two public middle schools in Harlem and Bensonhurst. I also studied topology and non-Euclidean geometry through the Math in Moscow program and conducted research in enumerative algebraic geometry with Sabrina Pauli through the Twoples international math mentorship program. We have work in progress with Stephen McKean.
Fall 2023 and Spring 2022,
I assisted Lauren Rose with teaching the Mathematics of Puzzles and Games course at Bard College. I also served as lead organizer for her math outreach program for middle school girls called MAGPIES (Math & Girls + Inspiration = Success).
Summer 2022,
I conducted research in combinatorial representation theory at the MathILy-EST REU, supervised by Nate Harman and Josh Mundinger, which has been published in the journal Algebraic Combinatorics and is also available on ArXiv.
2017 - 2021,
I studied at Bard High School Early College Queens, and simultaneously earned a high school diploma and a two-year college degree.
Summer 2019,
I studied computer programming in an intensive at NYU with the organization Girls Who Code.
Summer 2017,
I studied mathematical logic at Johns Hopkins University through The Center for Talented Youth.
2009 - 2017,
I studied at the Brooklyn School of Inquiry, and competed in local math olympiads.
2005-2008,
I studied at the Montessori School in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
April 2003,
I began to breathe oxygen.
Teacher
Apr - May 2023
This immersion in NYC public school after-school programs provided me with very valuable perspective on STEM classrooms in elementary and middle school.
Teaching Assistant
Jan - Jun 2023
Teaching explorative problem solving to excited middle school students was an inspiring experience. It was a pleasure to work with such a motivated class.
Course Assistant - Mathematics of Puzzles and Games
Jan - Dec 2022
I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to teach students with zero interest in math how to happily explore it. This experience solidified my belief that anyone can learn to love math.
Lead Organizer
Sept 2021 - June 2022
Developing engaging lessons plans, managing a team, coordinating events -- I gained a lot of valuable experience from this leadership role.
Origami Instructor
Sept 2020 - Sept 2021
In the midst of the pandemic, I taught monthly origami classes online for the public. My students came from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and all arrived with a desire to learn and create. I am thankful I had this opportunity to bring a bit of joy to people in a dark time.
Karate Instructor
July - Aug 2017
My first opportunity to independently plan and teach classes! After learning from my Sensei's mentorship for 8 years, I was ready to pass on knowledge to the next generation of students.
Assistant Karate Instructor
2014 - 2017
Alongside my instructors, I learned how to support students younger and less experienced than myself, and in doing so strengthened my own martial arts abilities.
